Safety and Smiles

As all of you residents of the Phoenix metro area and the surrounding cities know, water safety is a very big deal. You are right, we do not have any access to an ocean and there aren’t that many lakes either but we have a ton of pools. Everyone needs to be careful around water especially when maybe “partying” a little bit out on the lake with your friends but the kids need to be watched out for at all times. We as adults know what to do to keep ourselves safe, or at least we very well should, but children need someone to show them that safety is necessary. No matter what age or body of water, children need to be constantly watched. One of the best safety measures you can take is to complete a CPR class to become certified to help anyone who may need you. You know it would feel good to be the hero too. Next for at home, do not wait to install a fence at least four feet high with an automatic closing door around any pool or spa.  Be aware of any dog doors in the home that lead outside to where a pool can be reached also. When on a floating vessel of any kind always make sure every single kid is wearing a correctly sized life vest. When swimming in open water everyone should have a swimming buddy. You know like when you were a kid and had a buddy on a field trip? Even good swimmers could use a buddy. You never know what could happen so it is just better to be safe rather than sorry. Having inflatable swimming aids nearby no matter where you are swimming is always a good idea too. Plus they can be used for fun and everyone likes fun. Always, always be aware of your surroundings and do not take your eyes off of children around water. Please remember, if a child is missing, look for them in the nearest body of water first. At our Mesa dental office we know the perfect accessory for any summer outfit, and that is a bright smile. Make your summer count and the pictures of your great memories even better.
